Founder and Medical Director

Dr. Nargus Harounzadeh

Nargus Harounzadeh, DNP, is a board-certified, Penn-educated, Columbia-instructed, and NYU/Bellevue-trained psychiatric nurse practitioner and certified yoga therapist. She has additional training in Narrative Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy, and is on the faculty at both NYU School of Medicine and Columbia University. Dr. Harounzadeh also serves as a Senior Associate Director of Mental Health/Psychiatry at NYC Health + Hospitals, Correctional Health Services, Rikers Island. Most recently, Dr. Harounzadeh was awarded the Bloomberg Fellowship in Violence from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

 

Dr. Harounzadeh has clinical expertise in a broad range of conditions from mood disorders to psychotic disorders, and specializes in treating mental health issues in competitive and elite athletes. She draws from her multidisciplinary training, including principles of movement, nutrition, psychiatry, and psychology to craft each patient’s unique treatment plan.

 

Passionate about community work, she founded an arts collective in 2011 that hosts art receptions and fundraisers to benefit survivors of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and domestic violence. A dedicated athlete and artist, Dr. Harounzadeh can be found training for her next race or embarking on her latest artistic endeavor when she is not practicing psychiatry.
